Resilience at Vertigo

Mobilizing for our Soldiers

BACKGROUND

During the Swords of Iron war, Vertigo Dance Company began to operate building resilience programs for the benefit of reservists and their families.  As part of the activities, Vertigo was able to harness the infrastructure of the organization – the Eco Art Village, combine it with extensive experience in providing body and soul therapeutic interventions, and incorporating professionals in the therapeutic field. Today, we operate within the framework of three programs: Resilience Farm, Shavim (Returning to Routine) and Two as One.  Participation in all programs is at no cost.

Resilience Farm

The Resilience Farm at Vertigo’s Eco-Art Village is a unique model that was developed within the Faculty of Psychology at Reichman University, and is operated in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, the IDF and the IDF Disabled People’s Organization. As part of the program, groups of 30 reservists who have been recognized by the authorities as coping with PTSD come to the village. The soldiers participate in a long series of therapeutic sessions – as a group and as individuals for a period of six months, three days every week.

Shavim – Returning Home

Shavim is a program which was developed as part of a partnership between the Aviram Family Foundation and the IDF Disabled People’s Organization.  It was created in response to reserve soldiers who are coping with trauma but are not recognized as such by the authorities.
