VERTIGO DANCE COMPANY & ITAMAR DOARI
During the COVID-19 pandemic, a collaboration unfolded between the Vertigo Dance Company and Itamar Doari and it produced “Pardes”.
In June 2023, a research lab was established between the two entities, and a 9-day intensive workshop marked the inception of a new creation. The project aspires to immerse itself in the present, residing in the moment within the space between music and movement. It explores the principles of improvisation that serve as a framework akin to scores, striving for a shared expression between dancers and music, encompassing the quality of movement and a dialogue with the music. The creation aims to explore and reside in the authentic stage, in the magical moments of the creative process. Emphasizing the unique vitality of live music and dance, it grapples with the tension between structured components and those in the process. The audience will be a close part of the experience that unfolds.
Vertigo’s movement language explores ritualistic areas, bridging consciousness and emotion, material and spirit. In this creation, there is a desire to continue and develop movement. The emergence of movement will grow from the qualities of the mesmerizing moment of improvisation.
ITAMAR DOARI A virtuoso percussionist, composer, arranger and prodigious improviser, Itamar Doari is acclaimed for his dazzling performances in the fields of world music, contemporary music, jazz and experimental music. Today, he regularly performs at major music festivals in the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
