Nona | Premiere 26
The new creation by Noa Wertheim and Rina Wertheim Koren from Vertigo Dance Company is a sensory-physical journey into one of the most elusive and profound concepts: time.
It is an attempt to decipher the pulse of the world and the pulse of the human being — the constant tension between the body, so vividly alive, and eternity, which longs to remain.
Nona asks a seemingly simple question: does time pass through us, or do we move within it?
As Noa Wertheim describes it, “Nona is an attempt to explore quantum time — a space in which all possibilities remain open, where many things can happen, until in a single moment a collapse occurs: a superposition, a collision between the multidimensionality of existence and the linearity of everyday life.”
The title Nona draws inspiration from the three goddesses of Roman and Greek mythology who weave the thread of each person’s life. Like them, the dance continuously unravels and rewoven time — measured, stretched, fractured, and continuously becoming.
At the heart of the performance are dancers moving through the relentless rhythm of modern culture. The body is pushed forward, at times almost to the edge of becoming mechanical; repetitive movements reflect the contradiction between constant motion and inner stillness. Then suddenly, time slows down, opens, and releases itself from urgency, allowing space for presence, contemplation, fragility, and beauty.
Nona is an invitation to pause, to listen, and to reconsider how we choose to live within time itself — something that constantly escapes us, yet remains the only thing truly in our hands, like a delicate thread that can be pulled apart and rewoven again and again.
